No I mean the CT.

Anyone selling a car should have a valid CT that has been done within 6mths of the sale.

Anyone buying a car can also ask the wouldbe vendor for a copy of the CT, because this will list any small faults that should have been fixed, normally ones that do not need the CT centre to verify.

"You fill in the vendeurs part of the CT  & the acheteur fills in his/her section, which you then send to the prefecture"

I think you mean certificat de cession, not CT. The CT is issued by the garage for the car, nothing to do with ownership.

The vendor also endorses the carte grise.

You will need your carte grise, your Ct if it is more than 4 yrs old.

Your CT needs to have been done within 6 months of the sale. You fill in the vendeurs part of the CT  & the acheteur fills in his/her section, which you then send to the prefecture.  take copies of all just in case.

You need to also cancel your insurance, this may need more than 30 days notice, depending on your insurance company.  Everything must be done in writing & preferably sent AR to prove that it has arrived.
