ship a car over OR lease ??

Can anyone help advise on the cost to modify a car (a Honda Odyssey Minivan) to European specifications?

We are trying to decide whether or not we should ship our car over for our expat term (and adapt it for Europe), or lease...

Thanks to all!

I assume your company is willing to pay to ship your car otherwise you wouldn't even be considering it. I really doubt sending your own vehicle over and back again is worth the trouble, they make minivans here too...so get them to kick in for a rental car instead, for people coming from outside the EU there are some really good deals for up to a 6month lease:

The French embassy in the US has information on importing cars: http://www.ambafrance-us.org/intheus/customs/5000.asp

And petrol in France is currently about 5 dollars/US gallon (approx. 1.1€/litre).

The Odyssey is not sold in Europe. Getting parts to bring it to European specification could be difficult. You might also have problems with insurance and maintenance. Why not contact Honda US and ask for their advice.gerbil
