Hi,

I'm French and I'm going to marry an Englishman, so we're going to have a hen and stag do, but as it was said before, in France it isn't really common (at least I've never been to one) so is there any English lady out there who could tell me what to expect, as my future sister-in-law is preparing it for me and doesn't want to tell me anything.

Leslie,

I agree with both Caroline and Gaidjinn and would be quite offended by the display of sex toys. Going out to a nice restaurant/bar/night club and tell silly jokes is very good, and the display of underwear could be quite nice.

Good luck for the preparation

Hey :)

Careful when you send off the invits, "Enterrement de Jeune Fille" sounds sinister! You do not wish to bury the lovely young lady, but her life as such : "enterrement de la vie de jeune fille"...

I agree with Caroline, our bachelorette's (if held at all) are nothing compared to the parties you guys have in the US. And even though we can be quite straight forward in our talks and can have numerous hilarious talks on very private subjects we only do this within a - really - intimate circle of girlfriends.

I am used to US style bachelorette but I would still (as a French girl) be rather off-put by display of sex toys and "heavy" jokes if I was to attend a bachelorette in France. I think if you want to blend both culture stay away from X-related material and bank on Erotic items instead. Go subtle and you will have the French girls in tears and joking happily if they don't feel totally out of place :)

Just a French side advice... Enjoy the party and do let us know how it went!

Gaidjin.

Caroline,Thank you for your honest opinion. Since the bride to be is American and not French, I will do some silly things, but after reading your posting, I will tone it down some. It will be nice for the others to experience how it is done in other places, but not to the point of them not enjoying themsleves.Leslie

Hello,

I think for French girls " enterrement de vie de jeune fille" isn't as big as in England or USA. Most of the time we go to the restaurant and out for the night (night club, piano bar...), show our underwear for the wedding night...

Recently, it took off with chippendales shows.

I think your idea can disturb some of the french girls. Some will like it, and you have to think that it is a mixed wedding so they have to get use of the other culture if they are friends.

Personally, I'm not for it but if you don't do it on this day, you will never do it!!!

have fun
