Heading towards 0300 hrs and I still can't get to sleep.  Ever since starting this research into music choices, I've been suffering a major attack of insomnia.  For the past week I've been averaging 4-5 hours sleep each night.  Can't get the music out of my head - positively swimming!  Not that I'm complaining or anything.  There's just no hope for me I reckon!

Has anyone checked out this Armenian MISTER X  ?  His Adagio truly ROCKS!  That'll be around forever!  Love it when his voice skyrockets off into that waver!  Does anyone else have these reactions to the music - or am I just "way out there baby" ... all on my lil' ownsome ??  Wonder if he'll be doing any tours this way.

"Don't ya just love it?!" I say  "... Doesn't it just grip you by the soul and send tingles up your spine?"  The other half agrees re Mister X's nbr 1, but as for the rest of my choice .. he sort of looks up at the ceiling and replies ".... errr .... yup ! ...."

oops!  Sorry Danomines .... suffering a slight attack of insomnia at the moment ... gave up on trying to sleep last night and eventually got to bed at 7am .... and woke up around 10:30 am.  Am running on zombie mode!

Wondered where you'd got to by the way.  Good to see you're still around.

Hi Legend.  I have considered this question of course.  Here's my personal opinion:  People's individual tastes in music change with time.  What's hot this year for them may be corny in several years time.  Also, much will depend upon time and financial limitations of using/buying rights to use the music.  (Haven't got that far yet - so don't exactly know what they are.  We do know at a quick glance that it's rather complicated however.).  Individual requests may be too much paperwork and cost for a single VCD sale.

There's also a certain 'timeless and classic' style I wish to remain within which will complement my individual style of photography and art.  Then there's also less danger of the music being outdated - and thus the product I'll be selling.

Putting images to music is very powerful and emotive - much more so than just looking at images, or just listening to music.  So in the meantime, I need to work up a library and a portfolio of examples.  Am just a novice ... long way to go yet, but we're getting there, one step at a time.

Appreciated your thoughts.  xxx A.

angel, shouldn't the music be personal to the couple? Just a thought.

I have them sometimes, and they tend to annoy people.

Well folks, with a week battling computer daemons alongside my Knight in shining armour, the computer has been not much good for anything - except surfing the net and expanding my musical horizons !  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

At least that has provided some moments of sanity away from … faulty connections, faulty parts, incompatible programs and hardware, self-installing turbo charged pop up and porn programs, yet another virus attack ….. and the usual XP ‘system error’ probs ….. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrghhhhhhhhh !*#?!!

Oh … I must say Mike, you’ve made my week!  For years I’ve been wondering who the singer was behind one of my favourite childhood memories .. that was dancing the hula to Pata Pata.  We used to collapse exhausted and laughing with the pain of the stitch because the music was terribly fast and challenging ... one had to be very fit and supple to wiggle the hips in time.  >> Miriam Makeba!   At laaaast – I found her >> thankyou thankyou thankyou!

In listening to samples of the music suggested by everyone and going even further, I have found exactly what I was looking for …. Classic but mod, spine-tingling romantics.

Some of my most exciting discoveries are listed here  (if interested in checking them out, click the links to amazon.com or their own sites and listen to the mp3 samples.)

‘Only You’ sung by Alessandro Safina  (This guy brings tears to my eyes!   Often mixes opera with pop in the same tunes – absolutely incredible … et quel spunk!)

Anytime, Anywhere  sung by Sarah Brightman to Albinoni’s version of ‘Adagio’  (I’ve never been keen on sorpranos before – but her voice is so pure and incredibly beautiful.  Both Eden and the Andrew Lloyd Weber Collection are must haves!)

‘Adagio’  sung by Mister X   (This is my favourite version of Adagio and brings mist to the eyes also!)

Mario Frangoulis   (Another hunky spunk – oh god, Mediterranean wine is flowing in my veins … where aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrt thou my husband ….)

For something rather different but with a true marriage theme, how about Miriam Makeba's Qongqothwane (The Click Song)?

For French romanticism pushed to its tear-jerking extreme, you've got to be talking La Vie en Rose, in my opinion. Or there's always Je t'Aime, Moi Non Plus... :-)

I have a friend who has the most amazing collection of original soul music; if you have a theme or phase in mind, he can probably pick the song for you. eg I need your sweet inspiration, I don't want nobody but you, I know I love you the best, I'm sold on you, I'll be there until the end etc. He's opening a bar called Boogaloo at Christmas in Nice. Let me know if you want to know more.Julia PreeceMobile 06 16 37 66 91

I should also have said Otis Redding: Try a little tenderness (or any of his songs) also "Smoke gets in your eyes" (Platters I think but may be wrong).  For French, you can always go for a little Edith Piaf!
