VictoriaB !

Why not ? Who are you ? Have we met already and you're a bloke ? Or have we met already and you're too young ? The other option is that we were immediately mutually attracted , but me being shy and retiring , I used the excuse of leaving on the next yacht for Croatia !

As I'm suddenly not going to sea in the immediate future , after all , I've decided to plunge myself into my annual chutney making - perhaps you could lend a hand ?

Thank you for all your ideas. Will try spar rue Cassini first and then try packed lunches although can't normally be bothered in the morning !!

St George, see you around !???

I was going to suggest your own packed lunch ' comme dans les 60's ' but thought it too obvious  !stgeorge

I know a well tried and trusted source.  You go to the supermarket, buy the bread that you like, buy some butter, buy some cheddar (or Conte is a good substitute) and some pickle and - lo and behold, after 5 mins in the kitchen - voila le sandwich!

Sorry - had to say it!

Hello! Thank you for your suggestion but I was just using jambon beurre as an example. I have tried the different ones. I was really hoping for something different than a baguette/pain viennois type. More like a nice soft loaf bread. I am based next to the port of nice, so there are a couple of boulangeries that do the usual in rue cassini and close. I would just like an english sandwich with maybe a bit of cheddar and chutney...

What a dream ....

Try branching out from 'jambon beurre'.   Most sandwish places I know in Nice offer a large selection that doesn't include ham.  Where are you trying to get sandwiches?
