When we had a tutor for our daughter , we received a letter before the tax deadline with the numbers we had to write in and and the code to show where on the tax form they had to go

We did not pay by cheque emploi

Question, for my own curiosity, Did the tutoring invoice include VAT?

Thanks for your reply. This is interesting, because the tutor said we could claim the money but he never mentioned anything about cheque emploi. He works as part of a company (with a SIRET number), rather than as an individual, does that make a difference? We just write ordinary cheques to "X", rather than to "Mr Y".

I believe you can only claim when you pay them by "cheque emploie", in which case you claim the total amount you have paid (which includes the social security contribution).Steve
