Hi Matt

Well, it's not really "marriage" but there is a legally recognised "domestic-partnership" agreement known as PACS which affords many (but not all) of the spousal rights that come with trad heterosexual marriage.

You can read up here:http://riviera.angloinfo.com/countries/france/pacs.asp And there's loads more (mostly in French) on the Web.

Hi,

I would like to know if same-sex civil union (marriage) for homosexuals is allowed in France.  I found out that there are some same-sex civil rights for homosexuals, but not sure if same-sex marriage is actually allowed.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

Hi Phil,Thanks for your response. I have known about this site for some time and agree it is a very good one. It contains very useful information but thus far nothing on becoming a french citizen. I think I have found out what I need to know through one of the sites Wendy posted i.e citizenship because of marriage to french citizen. Thanks for your reply,Charlee

Hi CharleeI haven't found anything in English, but the French justice department has the requirements clearly laid out on these pages (in French): http://www.justice.gouv.fr/vosdroit/gnationad.htm (citizenship by marriage)http://www.justice.gouv.fr/vosdroit/gnationaa.htm(citizenship by birth)http://www.justice.gouv.fr/vosdroit/gnationae.htm(by naturalisation)You could put the URL into http://trans.voila.fr for a fairly OK translation.Hope it helps in the meantime...
