Thanks for that. I went to the Employment office in Monaco and then to the Assedic in Menton, just to be sure. Anyway, it seems if I take up employment in Monaco after having quit I have to work at least another four months in Monaco in order to have rights to chomage. So basically I have to be very sure that the job will work out OK. Which is fine, but I needed to know.

That said, different government offices give different advice. The only sure fire way would be to negotiate a licenciement amiable..... which I think is a very big ask. Once you leave of your own free will you're on your own !!

Anyway thanks for you help. Negotiations are ongoing with the new employer..... fingers crossed.

My understanding is that you can definitely change jobs and retain your Chomage rights if your new employment doesn't work out. This happened to me, but back in 2001. I'm not sure whether things have changed since then.
