Would I be correct in saying that the legal age of compulsory education in France is 6 years old and payable by the government or subsidised by part public and private?

Also the creches and 'maternelles' and up to 6 are created, run and subsidised by the municipaiities (local tax payers) or enterprises (therefore private)?

Thank you... so basically it is the same for me to send my child to creche as it is to send them to a child minder! Wow! It's expensive!

According to French forums, you can't continue to get PAJE because it's already been deducted from the fees in the form of Government subsidy.
