Don't count on getting credit, although if you have a permanent CDI work contract you will stand a better chance. Suggest you save up. The place to look for used items in France is www.leboncoin.fr

You should be able to pick up basic appliances that will do you for a while   cheap or even free on anglo info and give you time to build up some sort of credit record .

Look under classifieds  here  under topics  for sale, giveaways or put up a wanted ad for free

I think it will be tricky as you are just arrived. Borrowing money and buying things on finance isn't so common in France as it is in the UK, they have more stringent criteria, and credit card borrowing simply does not exist at all in France.

You'd be better transferring money from the UK to your new bank account. You would need I would guess around 1500 to 2000 euros to buy full set of kitchen appliances new.

Often people try to sell such items on Angloinfo (if they are moving back to the UK, for example). You could post a "wanted" advert.
