They were sneakily put in when we were away. We are on a steep hill with a ridge to the side, cutting across our garden saved him about 50m of pipe!

were you there when the pipes were laid? is yr land fenced?

it seems unbelievable that they were just laid across your land, (presumabley they either chose the best lay of the land, or put them there because they didn't want to look at them either!!

even if its the bottom of a far field its unthinkable

Thanks Ouch That Hurt!

Definitely don't want to start WWIII and have otherwise good relations with all neighbours. This has got to the stage where proper legal advice is needed.

The neighbour cannot usually pass any pipes on your property, unless they were installed within the rules of a co proprieté. what kind of water is it? I presume its land drainage? Are you 100% of your boundaries?

If he is ignoring all "friendly" requests to settle this, WHAT DO YOU ENVISAGE AS A SOLUTION ? Do you want them rerouted? (involving all future relations with neighbour like a cold war,) or How would you feel if he paid for some plants to disguise this?

send him a letter recommandé, in correct French, & tell him that his pipes as they are must be removed, (or hidden, if this option is conceivable to you) if not you will be talking to your advocat..........
