Your insurer gave you some incorrect information that can be easily verified.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion, I"ll give Lloyds/Hiscox a try, here's hoping we have more joy there!

If you want to insure your valuables outside the home, you need to look for a broker that works with specialist insurers like Lloyds or Hiscox. They have representative offices in France.

Your AXA agent will only be able to offer you what AXA can underwrite and not other "competitor" products; which is probably why he told you that "it can't be done".

Bearing in mind though, that the premium doesn't come cheap and there is always a minimum deductible.

Hi there, we're with Axa and they're the ones who've just told us that insurance against loss "isn't done in France" ....  so we're looking to move our insurance elsewhere!

I think I should have been clearer in my post.  I'm looking for insurance for lost valuables in and/or outside the home, something I've been told "doesn't exist in France"....

Any insurance company (GMF, MAAF......) insure house contents for loss due to accidents (fire, flooding etc.)
