Hi! It's allways a good idea to move to the mediterranian :-)
The only advice I'd like to give you is the following: Do NOT buy any property if you're in hurry and if you don't know the area. Even if there might be a good offer you can be assured there will be coming up another - better - one. You should look for a long term rental somewhere (6-12 month). While leaving your own furniture in a self storage you will have enough time being relaxed when looking for the perfect house which suits to you. You will have the time to meet other nice people giving good advices to you. Bienvenue !
