She who must be obeyed tells me it's poitrine de boeuf but in Dublin it was always spiced beef or bacon and cabbage or Dublin coddle for Paddy's day.

That would be canned (tinned) corned beef. I think he might be looking for "real" corned beef brisket. My very better half has just made his own. Just went into the brine and will be ready to cook next Saturday.

We have looked for years here for corned beef brisket or pastrami. I think we found some at a kosher butcher in Nice. There also is a kosher butcher in Cannes, they may have it. I have to say it is much easier to make it yourself.

I have seen it many times in Auchan La Trinite so I'm sure you'd find it in any other Auchan. They stock it in the same aisle as foreign foods eg fajitas, noodles, asian products, etc - but not in with the "British" products. I seem to remember it has an English name with a Union Jack on the tin. Good luck in your search!
