Family Friendly Provançal Restaurant

No I am afraid that I don't know one but am looking for one.

We use to go quite often to the Pré du Brusc in Châteauneuf de Grasse: It was good value, family friendly (big tables and place to run outside), and it prepared real provançal fare in a provençal surrounding (old stone building in a beautiful setting).

Alas it closed down last year and all I see around these days are posh nosh or crampted little places where they allow smoking 50 cms from anywhere you sit.

So does anyone want to share a secret? within say 50 kms of Le Rouret: preferably in the middle of a field not in the middle of a town.

If you are ready to drive to Antibes I strongly recommend "Le Jardin" in the old town. My partner and I go there quite often. The food is really good and provençale-type, they have a 3 course meal menu for €15 and the staff is very nice.

Now now chaps..

I was hoping for something (on this occassion) more provençal and oldy worldy with genuine provençal cuisine.

The sort of place that is not just there for the grockles.

I would drive further if it was really worth the treat..

Those photos scare me. Especially the last one. What, do tell, is the relevance of a nice juicy pair of dangling plums?

It's un peu "Butlins sur lac" non?

Am I allowed that opinion?

Les Arbousiers is lovely for families. Very relaxed, with large, natural gardens safe from the road for kids, and of course, the lake to play in. Web page with map & pics here: http://www.angloinfo.com/showcase/la/

Le Chaudron on the road between Mouans Sartoux and Plan De Grasse is very good (Just before you reach the Troc). Don`t be put off by the hand written sign on the roadside, its a beautiful place to sit outside, great views, family friendly and I`ve found the food to be great.

'Le Lavoir' restaurant in the village square (place des Ormeaux) in the village of Plan de Grasse is excellent.  They specialise in seafood, but also do Provencal dishes, and the prices are very low and the dishes great value for money. Very family-friendly. The village square is beautiful with a fountain and old church and the owner of the restaurant, Fred, is a real character, lovely guy and speaks very good English.  Tel: 04 93 70 14 02 / Mob: 06 09 97 25 43.

What about Les Arbousiers on the Lac St Cassien - or is it too far?
