I'm not sure why you think your friend will starve... You don't need to go to a specific gluten free restaurant. Most places serve grilled fish or meats, with vegetables, potatoes and/or rice. If there is a sauce you can ask to be sure there is no flour added, or just ask for no sauce. An easy option is Chamkila on rue Sade for Indian (just don't order the naan and you should be gluten free ;)) Plus most of the appetizers are not made with wheat flour (they use lentil & chick pea flours for most, a few may use wheat, just ask).
