The Harem is a Morrocan restaurant in Cannes that is very flash and different, music and dancers with good food.

Another restaurant that will impress is the Farfala just opposite the Palais, both should be within your budget.

I agree with Mixer: the Relais des Semailles is certainly the best restaurant in Le Suquet I have been to...not cheap but worth it - excellent wine list!!!

If you are looking for something reasonable in price, I recommend 'Le Stratège - The Limelight Restaurant', also in Le Suquet (towards the top, on your right, it's easily missed). Good menu, excellent selection fresh local fish (call them late afternoon and 'book your fish in advance' - it's worth it!), it's a small restaurant but excellent atmosphere, good music and they speak English (!)

The loft is just a nightclub above the Tantra restaurant. The Tantra is a good fun place to have dinner but there's very loud music, a clubby atmosphere which is not a great place for TALKING!

A small excellent restaurant in the Suquet is called the Relais des Semailles. It's near the bottom of the street on the left hand side. Quiet, excellent menu, good wine list the last time I looked and a friendly service (wow!). Bit pricey though.

Bon Apétit!

There is a brilliant restaurant/nightclub in the Palm Beach casino in Cannes, its a little bit pricey but should fit in your budget. The setting is brilliant and it becomes a club after about 11ish. Really cool place.

Thank you for your suggestions so far, I'll keep them in mind and as you asked...

Occasion: modern business/pleasure
Budget: 50 - 90 EUR p/p

What would you say is THE place to be seen in Cannes at the moment?

The Loft? or is it all happening somewhere else?

The big hotels on La Croisette ought to be impressive enough, and you wont get snubbed if your French isn't up to the mark.

They are relatively affordable for lunch, the Martinez has a menu at 50EUR including wine and a sandwich for your bodyguard, and you can moor your tender for free at their pier.

Depends on what sort of relationship requires the added impressive touch.  Romantic?  Business?  1-on-1 or multi-player?  Plutôt jeune ou plutôt raffiné? (not suugesting that young cannot be refined - but you get the idea).

OH - one other thing - Budget?
