I'm fairly sure pharmacies are now strictly bound in France to 250 mls....even here in the backwoods where my neighbour, who is well known, an ex nurse and lived here all her life, can't get it!

I use fruit alcohol, more expensive, but easier, and I like the taste better.

In Italy it's freely available in the supermarkets - at least it was in October last year when I bought some. They even sell 2 litre bottles - just on the shelf in the drinks section.

Hi GAnthony - yes thats what I've always done but today they told me that the law had changed and they weren't allowed to sell it anymore! Odd!

LavaLamp, we just go to our local pharmacy where they know us, and so far had no trouble in getting a litre. There are some restrictions being placed on this strength of alcohol. The pharmacy may tell you that they can only supply you with 250ml. However, we tell them it is just for lemoncello, and they usually let us have the full litre. Good luck.

Italy. About 10 euros a litre.
