My parents are in their 50s and have found many like minded people in Cannes, so this may be an area to consider. I would recommend renting here (off season) before buying. buying tends to take a long time and you want to be sure. You can get good rental deals from Oct-Mar. In terms of finding work, it is our experience that there are a lot of overqualified people here. Ladies with university degrees and years of management experience are cleaning villas or waiting tables. There are lots of upsides of living in this wonderful corner of the world, but lots of people but their are prices to pay. Dont expect that you;ll just walk into an office or teaching job - there's alot of people here that are bilingual.Dont think that I'm not being encouraging though. We (my family + my parents) moved here 3 years ago and wouldnt live anywhere else! Good luck!
