Check with your local mairie, they'll give you the date for your town. Any burning after that date is considered illegal and will probably incur 1) wrathful neighbors, 2) a visit from the pompiers and 3) a large FINE, esp. in light of last summer's fires.belamica

Definitely 21 March - after that you may be able to get special dispensation from your Marie - more of a chance after a good downpour.  After all the forest fires last year, it would be foolish to go ahead without permission - you could be heavily fined or worse.
