1500 euros per sq metre is correct rule of thumb pricing for New build work. 06 is an expensive area to build in, so is the South of England where you would be looking at very similar levels.

You should look at the price of houses for sale in your area trying to find houses which are similar in terms of size, amount of land, age etc. You should be able to establish a price per square metre for these houses.

A new build or an extension should be between 1/3rd and a half of this cost per square metre.

I have had a quote of 1500 which now seems reasonable!

I was quoted a minimum of 2,000 Euros a sq. m. for a very simple extension to a small house in a fairly modest area. I find this very expensive compared to UK costs. There seem to be so many "extras" needed here - but are they really necessary? I don't think the French can pay these prices - especially not today - with new taxes and falling property values outside Paris.

That is a question where there is no answer. But between 2.000-10.000 Euros.
