It could be a shed load of hassle though! (and the paperwork is not too hard)

But it is not too big a risk to do it without a declaration. My neighbours put in their pool and built a huge verandah without declaring it. You only have probs if your neighbours snitch on your generally - so if you have nice neighbours you should be ok.

Pete Mck,

Even at 20 msq, you will, however, still need to complete and have accepted a "declaration de traveaux" and need to return the confirmation slip that you have read, understood and accept the penalties if you are caught using unregistered labour.

this "declaration de traveaux" will only be accepted if you are either:

1) In a "zone constructible" and have not exceeded your maximum size of buildings area "shon"

2) In a "zone agricole" and have not carried out other extension work within the time limits set by the local Mairie

Your local Mairie will advise, and when the paperwork is accepted you are issued with a number that you declare on the sign at the entrance to your land.

E-mail me on the link above if you need further assistance.

Regards, Les

if under 20m2 you don't need planning permission. You do if over.
