Check with www.ettenhuber.de or tel. 0049-8093-90960 who have weekly bus from Munich-St. Maxime (Saturdays) and return (Sundays).  Then take a train as mentioned above from MUC to SZG. Certainly cheaper than flying, I would think...belamica

easiest way is definitely by air to munich, then connect to the rail station by underground. Simple, fast, and convenient. Tickets counters right there, no hassle.

Tolls.

Tolls in Italy are a lot cheaper than France. I drove to Rome for around 30 euros each way. No idea what the equivalent cost would be for 700 kms in France but it would be a lot more.

Trains.

Ok, so you need to get a bus between Monaco and Menton stations but the trains run from there (barring strikes) so it is possible to train it across Italy.

No idea on the cheapest option for the overall journey.

I find this a good site for finding cheap airline tickets for European cities:

www.whichbudget.com

Good luck,

cheapest way = walk. Failing that, try training to Munich and then training to Salzberg

Easiest way = Nice to Munich by plane and then coach to Salzberg.

A problem for me too. Easyjet to Stanstead and Ryan air to London? Lufthansa to Munich? I am keen to see other options though?
