I definately vote for the train, especially in October...its a little busy right now. Did the Paris commute last weekend Easyjet one way, TGV back. Still takes the same amount of time door to door, especially if you live walking distance to the train station. Lowest ticket price is 25euros each way, full price just over 100euros.

Other than the couple of routes operated by EasyJet, as mentioned by Bluefin,  there is no competition on internal routes in France, therefore no special deals other than the excursion/apex type fares.  They do however offer various different fares eg youth, student, pensioner, mutiles de guerre,  etc, so if they happen to fall into any such category (hopefully not the latter!) it's worth asking as the travel agents usually don't know or won't tell you.

Don't overlook the train - often less expensive and more pleasant than flying and not necessarily any slower door to door.

Dont forget the TGV!  The journey is about 5 1/2 hours but that is city centre to wherever on the CDA, so it is usually quicker than the plane when you take the airport time into account.

Nice - Paris : check out www.easyjet.com

It may be worth comparing prices with Air France as with increased competition from the budget airlines the major carriers are having to reduce their fares.
