I can endorse your recomendation for the 'Mare Blu'

We have eaten there at least ten times, and it has always been superb.

Also,a nice bottle of Chianti,is as cheap as chips(11€ I think)

Hello Froggie,

If you get to San Remo and back after eating, having a good look at the market and the shops you'll already have a full day. If your'e going by train you will most probably have to change trains in Ventimiglia. For a classy restaurant I recommend the Mare Blu or as we often did go to the Royal Hotel main restaurant (10 mins by taxi or car) for an old world style treat. Check the price first, but 5 years ago it was the equavilent of about €20to25/person for the menu, if not, there are plenty of cafe/restaurants around the market area.
