It must have been harder for Parisians as they are less used to it. In fact more people died out thyere than in the South, because elderly people here know how to cope with hot temperatures, people use theit window shutters during the day and know when to stay in the shade.

A lot of the English people who live here do so because of the weather, I wonder if last summer felt like too much.

I didn't think the weather last summer was terrible here at all. It was just how I remembered it here some 30 years ago: hot, for sure, but still with a delicate breeze blowing, if you slowed down enough to feel it; glorious evenings; pure heaven. Gimme more, every year!

I believe some Parisians found it rather tough, though (not to mention the elderly, of course, who should have drunk more, someone said).
