You would have to take a train to Monaco then bus between Monaco and Menton and then train again to Italy. Not exactly the most convenient thing to do on the way back if you're bringing a lot of goodies from your shopping.

markets aren't far from the trains, but i believe the train lines are down between monaco and italy, due to a collapsed tunnel?lcb

San Remo market is also on Tuesday mornings--and the traffic/parking isn't as bad as on a Saturday.

Hi Linda,

Ventimiglia is on all day Friday, but I would advise you to go early as parking can be a bit of a nightmare. San Remo is on Saturday morning finishes about 1pm, I have only ever been on a sat morning so it might be on mid week but I'm not sure. I hope this helps.

PS don't buy any handbags from the guys in the street before you get to the Ventimiglia market. My friend did and though she was getting a great bargain lowwering the price from 40 to 24€ but when we got to the market the same bag was 10€ be warned.

Regards

Carol
