dhyana, you *can* get benefits, even if you quit your job. Apply to the ASSEDIC when you are first unemployed, they will tell you you are not entitled to anything, but go back 4 months later, with a dossier showing you have been applying for jobs (adverts, CV, letters of motivation, acknowledgements, rejections, etc) and they will reconsider your request, or at least that is how they used to work.Of course, in the meantime, you might just find a job which will probably pay the SMIC. :)Collie, not sure if you can get 'top-up' benefit, but if you are receiving benefit from the ASSEDIC, you can also work, under certain conditions (check out the adverts for distributing free newspapers for example) and you can also go away on holiday - very civilised.

yep, sure about the 911 hours, been to the ASSIDIC ( Job Centre kind of thing ) and that is what they officially said to me via post ...on paper ..of course; two weeks after I quit my last job.

And by the way ... if you quit your job you are entitled to NOUT regardless of the hours worked.

Remember that according to French law, you need to have worked and declared a minimum of 911 hours ( not consecutive ), before being entitled to unemployement benefit.

On benefit in Monaco .... that would be a story to tell !!!!!! ;)
