Thanks for your reply. I thought as much. ...but good tip about the wholesale price anyway as I hadn;t thought of that.

Forgot to add - it has nothing to do with your travel insurance , she is completely wrong in this!

I can only tell you that in the UK shops have coverage for accidental damage to goods in their insurance policies.

Its a civil matter. Do you think it would be worth their time and trouble to take you to court for it? I doubt it. They would have to prove negligence on your part.

In any case you would only be paying for the wholesale cost of the dress (their purchase price) , since they couldn't make a profit out of an accident.

My advice would be to forget about it. (Spilt milk..?!)
