quote:Does anybody have experience of these..they say they pick up 3000 channels....

Thats just marketing by the way - it will probably be spread across all the European satellites and mostly consist of shopping channels.

You will get BBC if you point the dish at the right satellite, providing,

1) the box they supply is numerique (digital).

2) The dish is over 80cm in dia.

The sat. is at 28.2deg. east of due south at approx 35deg. elevation and is the Astra 2 cluster that sky use. There are loads of free to air channels on this sat and most are shopping channels or religious broadcasting but you do get all the BBC channels. Any further channels, i.e: ITV;CH4;CH5; and SKY subscription channels require a card which will only work in SKY digiboxes.

If you self install you would find the costs are about:

Dish 80- 100 euros (must be at least 80cm for UK channels) with universal LNB

SKY digibox (from EBAY) between £50 - £150

Cable at ??. Make sure you get good quality cable for digital sat. Normal coax isn't good enough for weak areas.

Sat finder equipment (compass and beeper) can be brought from most supermarkets. - This is not neccassary but can make your life easier when lining up to the sat.

Hope this helps and is clear.
