Pestpatrol works for me - much better protection than freebies like adaware.

Thanks Reinrev.   It'll only take a day or two to realise if there are any problems persisting ... so will keep that in mind.

Hello Angel,

I'm not too sure about how friendly Spybot and XP Firewall are, working together. If you do have problems, try switching off the XP built in firewall.

I use the Kerio firewall which I find easier to get along with than Zone Alarm, but nothing is easy!

Also, nothing works 100% and if you do really batten down the hatches, many sites won't let you browse because you will then have completley blocked cookies.

Good Luck,   Reinrev

Terrific!  Am downloading it now. Thanks Irishman!

Let's see ... check list of must haves for tranquil surfing:

Anti Virus  Anti spammer   Anti Adware/Spyware   Anti Trojan  Anti Popup   Firewall protection

Phew!  Where will it ever end ?  (asides from when I finally give up the ghost and turf the *** computer out the window)

Hi Angel,

You can try a product such as "SpyBot-Search & Destroy". This tool can be used either as a reactive tool to periodically search your system for these nasties, or as a proactive tool to block the spy/adware.

Here's the link: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=bots
