Paul,

I think at one point in time the EDF was (and maybe still is) the only company authorised to supply electricity. This meant that if you had a "toy" hydro electric station set up in your garden you had to sell the electricity the the EDF who then sold it back to you.

What the situation is now I don't know but something along the lines of the above was true not too long ago.

It's something that I was told and found it hard to belive myself. It's something I am looking to do in the future, and this kind of put me off.

I find that really hard to believe because I doubt that any private solar power installation is really going to even make a blip on the EDF requirements.

Do you have a huge solar furnace or something?

What kind of power can you get from a domestic setup? 500W?
