Hi, can anyone reccomend a place to have a sunday lunch in Cannes? I would like to eat by the sea, so a good place that is not a rip off (touristy) and has good quality food and caters to the locals perhaps. If not then, I will take suggestions for other places in Cannes. I am celebrating a birthday and an anniversary so perhaps a meal that cost about 100Euros  with wine would be OK.

thank you in advance.

Leslie

Just to let all those who gave me nice suggestions, we went to an Italian place we like to go to called La Libera on Rue du Commandant Andre. As always it was excellent, so to any of you who would like something not Frenchm try this place. You will not be disappointed. Excellent quality and authenticity. A meal for two with 1/2 bottle of wine is 100 euros.

Carsten, I did walk by and get a business card from Pastis. The place looks very nice and very French...parisian..will definately try it out one evening.

cheers,

Good idea from Cortec, won't be cheap though, Carlton actually has a beach resto.

Plage de Galion is not bad, but with all the beach restos in Cannes, you pay a premium for the view.

Yacht club of Cannes is much better value, next to Palm Beach, great food, cheap for Cannes, supposed to be members only, never stopped me though!

Have a great day, whereever you end up.

Cannes 69,

Get a life

Leslie,

You could try the Palm beach casino in Cannes, they have a brilliant restauarant in there that would be well within your budget. I`m not 100% sure whether they serve food on a lunchtime, definately worth a try though cos the food is great and the setting is superb. Otherwise, why not dine in the Carlton restaurant, supposed to be very good indeed and its right on La Croisette.

Have fun

Thank you Patrick. That sounds right up my alley.

Thank you Coolas for your wise words. In deed, I live in Cannes and am interested in something different and since there is a large community of people here, I thought I would ask others.I certainly can not know every place in Cannes. In fact I do not go out very often, as I am a good chef, if I say so myself! I usually prefer to eat at home :)

Cheers.

Cannes 69 -

It sounds like you have too much time on your hands...

So what if Leslie lives in Cannes - she's looking for something different and was simply posting to see if anyone had any good suggestions...

No need to be spiteful or sarcastic.  Life's too short, n'est pas?

Peace - Coolas

Hi,

I think the best restaurant by the sea is a little place called something like "Pomme d api" it is on the Antibes side of point croisette - around the corner from Palm beach casino. It is very much a locals place - cute outside seating with a view across the road to the beach and sea. You may have a hard time spending 100 Euro as it is pretty cheerful and cheap, but very cool - feels like you are in a small village rather than Cannes. Avoid the Croisette in my opinion.

Hope this is helpful.

Patrick.

dear 69,

What "Leslie" really wants to know is why you should care so much as to write such a nasty response which is not at all constructive to me or this thread. Second thought, I don't care.

thank you Carsten.

Maybe Leslie wants also to know if the restaurant have toilets, if they offer plates to eat from, glasses to drink out of it and waiters who serve the food.

Would be nice to find out if they have chairs to sit on.

Leslie, you try to find something walking distance...so why don't go go there by yourself and find out????
