Many thanks Mike for your interest.. I have let Ophelie know..  The Plot Thickens!!  Interesting that she should be asked to translate a translation!!  Maybe as you say, the german original has been translated in several languages including french.. the hunt continues!!Pofeze

Remember that "We plough the fields and scatter" is not, originally, an Anglican hymn but is a (19th Century) translation from the German. If you can find the original - by Matthias Claudius - then you may find that it has been translated with a name (and lyrics) that are somewhat removed from the English-language version familiar as a harvest hymn. Looking for a translation of a translation, on the other hand, might be a bit hairy...**************

Thanks for your reply cab.. Have tried Google and several other search engines, but no success finding french version of the hymn..

So far I've only been able to provide Ophelie with the translation..

Nous labourons les champs et dispersons la bonne semence sur la terre

I have found a site which is very useful for free translations.. www.freetranslation.com

I'm still searching for the french version though..
