To legend_in_my_lunchtime, thanks for your response, that's very useful info which I'd wish I'd know about before for the times that I've dragged all sorts of dead weight items of furniture to the dechetterie.

To everyone else, I do at the moment have someone who is willing to come and collect the sofa+armchair tomorrow, so hopefully it's all sorted.

Many thanks,

KJL

OK - here's the drill for Valbonne....

You drag your huge objects to the area where your municipal rubbish bins are located.  You are only allowed to do this on the THIRD Monday of the month.  You telephone the Services Techniques on 04.93.12.35.90 to cover yourself for having left an "encombrant" in a public place and you tell them where it is located and what it is.

Voila! - rien plus simple!

P.S. On second thoughts, I'd reverse the above steps.  Check with them what they believe to be THIRD monday.  I've seen tons of stuff on the streets this morning and it is strictly speaking the SECOND monday today.
