I don't want to put you off but childcare in Nice is very much saught after and if you're looking you your baby to gointo public care, once a day, the waiting lists are quite high. Halte Gardereis are what you need to look for, they're like creches but take children for as little as half days if the space is available. You have to go to the one nearest your home to enrol your child. If you can raed French go to this site to find the one nearest to you : http://www.cg06.fr/sante/enfance-garde-enfant.html. The price you pay depends on what you earn.

If not look for a private solution - I think that angloinfo gives contact details of nannying agencies which will probably be your best bet especially if you don't speak French.

You can also try the mother and toddler groups, to meet up with other english speaking parents and to let your child meet others. There aren't any in Nice but you can go to Monaco - St. Pauls church or go over to the west of nice to Valbonne / Sophia - there is also information available on angloinfo.

There is one bi-lingual children's guide available for the area - for info contact info@lecurieux.mc.

As for the weather, it's usually quite fine with temperatures from 15-20°.

Good move !
