Dear Lisa

I am so sorry!  But I bought by far the nicest scarf in the shop!

Maybe though they will be able to find you something...

Enjoy your visit (Nice and Hermes I guess) and thanks again!

I am very pleased to have helped. I am on holiday in Nice for 2 days and I will be in Hermes tomorrow once I've dragged the daughter off the ice-skating rink so I hope there's something left for me to buy!

best wishes

Lisa

Many thanks to those who replied. I tried G la F but none of the scarves there were to my liking. But Lisa you are absolutely right - Hermes was great! The people were really nice and very happy to open (mess!) up their immaculate displays to show me the scarves. And I bought one.So thanks again!Chris

Hi Chris

There is only one place to buy a scarf in my humble opinion and that would be at Hermes. The smallest scarf they do is a 'twilly' a bit like a small tie - apart from the neck, it also looks good on tied around the wrist or on a (Kelly) bag. These cost about 70 euros I think. Next size is a straight forward silk square- this will be in the range of about 130 euros, then the larger silk squares - probably about 250-300 euros. They also do a fancy pleated scarf, not sure of the price.

The variety of colours is bewildering so you would need to have some idea of suitable combinations (assuming this is a present for someone else) If you are not sure about colours, then go for classic neutrals which will look good with everything. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the scarf will be beautifully wrapped and boxed. (the twillies come in a minature hat box- would look good on a Christmas tree!)

Hermes in Nice is on Avenue de Verdun just around the corner from rue Paradis. There is also another branch in Monte Carlo, on the road leading from the Casino back down to the Port.

I am a little hazy about the pricing but it will be worth it. The classic Hermes items like scarves are NEVER in the sale so you will always pay the high prices. There is a branch in Terminal 2 at the airport (can't remember about T1) but the prices are the same as the shops and the choice is limited.

best wishes

Lisa

You could try Galeries Lafayette in Cannes, Nice or Cap 3000.

They normally have a nice selection of scarves for a range of prices.

Good luck!!
