go for it. I have a UK phillips TV(they are cheaper), a sky box and 85cm dish with a manhattan LNB. works fine in Nice(if you have clear line of sight).  Also you can get all the french channels off another satellite free or buy a french VTR and tune off that - this all assumes you have a TV with several SCART scockets to connect it up with .Peter

It's possible to buy second-hand digiboxes quite cheaply on online auction sites such as eBay. The reason that they're so cheap is that Sky were literally giving them away for free a few years ago (think they still are but you have to be living in the UK and take out a one-year contract). You would also need a viewing card, which the BBC are currently giving away for free (you might be treading on dodgy ground using it in France, though) - see www.freeview.co.uk

It'll work fine with a French satellite box too...

http://www.sky.com/skycom/packages gives all the packages and prices.

Sky is aimed at the UK and Irish consumers but many on the Cote D'Azur are thought to have Sky over here. Sky do not supply service to non UK/Irish installations.
