There is a rate estabished by the Sécurité Sociale, but some doctors chose to charge more, especially specialists. This is called "dépassement d'honoraires" and is covered by your "mutuelle/complémentaire santé" if you have one.

Not sure if it's the same for France and Monaco but I think there is a guiding rate issued by the govt and then depending on the kind of health insurance you have, the doctors can charge you any of the ff:1. the guiding rate2. 20% above guiding rate3. whatever they wantI think you can get a copy of the guiding rates for difft from your insurance company.Hope this helps.
