it should be prescribed by the Doctors!!

I think Rachel who runs this incredible class, for free, is actually a doctor who specialises in backs. She works in Antibes.

She knows what she is doing, and makes us work very hard. I joined the class this year, it has made a huge difference to my back pain already and I was a beginners beginner a few months ago.  I am a in my early 50s and could not see let alone touch my toes.!

I agree but to do Pilates on a mat and get the same result as with the machines, you have to be well advanced in the technic as it is very difficult to visualise the body making slow motion mouvements when you are a beginner. Yes it is true that it is more expensive but the result is absolutely amazing, you are feeling so much better straight away in your body, your back stops to hurt, better diggestion, it should be prescribed by the Doctors!!!So phone number again 04 92 91 90 42, Evelyne Charpays.Romane

in response to above posting, the real purpose of the Pilates technique is to use body weight as resistance, which can easily be done on a mat on the floor. We concentrate and visualise the body in motion, each mental command stimulates and teaches muscle control.  In Pilates, emphasis is placed on the quality of the movement, not the number of repetitions. We go slow and then slower, its harder that way :0)
Therefore although the equipment referred to above, known as the Reformer is excellent, it is not necessary to achieve good results, and is usually expensive, however if budget allows its well worth a try.

Hi, there is now a proper Pilates centre in Antibes runs by a French teacher who speaks English, she has the Diplome from the famous Pilates Centre in New York. She, of course, has the machines which is the purpose of the real Pilates technic, and I have to tell you, this sport is just Magic...Worth a try, she does a discount for the new customers, her name is Evelyne and phone number is 04 92 91 90 42.Give it a go and you won't regret it really...Address is 5 avenue Robert Soleau, if you need more info, send me an e-mail.Cheers.

Hello, this class continues as long as people are interested in coming. On average there are 22 to 28 attending each week. You don't need to sign up or phone up, just come along and we'll make room for you.
The format presently is:
First Tuesday of the month.... Pilates with Upper body exercises at the end

Second Tuesday.... Pilates and working on stretch techniques where you learn how to stretch someone else and also get someone else to stretch you.

Third Tuesday .... Core stability and strength, taken by  Personal Trainer Ben Kefford, known as Bens Boot Camp

Fourth Tuesday ...Pilates and stamina techniques

Fifth Tuesday if there is one... Pilates and whatever the class wants!
