I have a feeling most dentists farm out the making of the prosthetic "device" to the local specialists of which there appear to be 3 or 4 so there's something of a monopoly situation.
The actual part of the bill that goes to the dentist is relatively small as I understand it.
So ultimately the difference in price is more the specialist prosthetic lab used than the calibre of the dentist
On a similar note I've had quotes from 1600€ to 3500€ for an implant from competent dentists who use different labs
