Lucky, what he is suggesting may not be the best solution. Almost all bathroom extractor fans exit outside the house, either through a wall or through a vent pipe through the roof. The void between roof and ceiling in your case may be sealed (in that air cannot easily escape), and if that is the case the fan will be pushing against increased pressure. That may cause the fan be be less efficient at removing the wet air from the bathroom, particularly after someone has taken a shower. Also, he is suggesting pumping all that wet air into your void space. In any case, fitting the fan in the wall with an exit hole, or fitting a pipe through the roof are quite simple things to arrange. That would in my opinion be the better solution.
