There are a variety of names for sticky back plastic

Revêtement adhésif or Rouleaux adhésifs - brico shops will have it but if it is for small projects i buy it at the cheapy 2 euro-type shops . they usually have it


for windows to stop people seeing through and usually has a stained glass or frosted glass effect - film adhésif pour vitrage film décoratif verre ou film à effet

cant think what it is called, but you can get the clear stuff for covering schoolbooks, usually in the school supplies aisle in the supermarche. I have also seen the coloured/patterned stuff in the brico sections of larger supermarches

If it's what I think you mean then ask for "Scotch Double Face" in any DIY store (Bricomarché, castorama etc) which is double-sided sticky tape (and has nothing to do with a double scotch, I promise...)
