I'm in the Monaco area and normally go to tete de chein behind Monaco which has a great assortment of climbs, or for something special just behind Gorbio... but keep it quiet!!!! I found Alticoup ok to start with but a bit rude if you werent spending lots of money... however Sport Ev just behind the Port in Nice are great... they have loads of kit, very friendly and always willing to help... they get my money every time!

If you want to do some climbing i'd love to, but with the heat I'm a little out of shape and practice, some easy 5 or 6's would be great to get back in to shape and to make sure you can hold the rope  :)

Hi Royston,

There are good climbing spots in the gorge du loup, but mostly for advanced climbers. I am interested to check them out myself, haven't been there yet (indeed, too hot).

If you go there, make sure you don't leave anything in your car! The car of a friend of mine was robbed there.

A store where you should be able to find everything you need, including topo/guides, is Alticoop in Nice, rue Caroline. They have several small shops in the same street, each specialised in a different sport. And you could try Decathlon in Antibes.
