Small really friendly club - Cap Plongee on Le Salis in Antibes (Antoine 04 93 67 26 22 - tell him Darina gave you the no).  They do mostly around the cap d'Antibes.  For excellent diving, as above, the Porquerolles is a nature reserve (no anchoring allowed), boats go from Le Lavandou.  Best to get a licence (obligatory) from a local club first.

There are clubs in just about every marina along the Riviera. They are all very good and have good safety records. If you are in Cannes, your nearest is based on a boat just opposite the irish pub on the harbour front. They mostly dive on the Lerins and the little island in the middle of Golfe Juan.

For better diving you need to go a bit further afield. It is very good in the Raid de Villefranche, with lots of wrecks and caves. The baie de Fréjus is full of wrecks of seaplanes (mostly Lacoeterie which used to be built there) but they are very deep (65m approx). There are also a few amphibious tanks lying around that sunk during the allied invasions. Just off St Tropez there is the Rubis submarine. In the Porquerolle islands there are several more aircraft, including a Mirage jet.
