“I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist practicing in Florence. As well as counseling with individuals, couples, and families, I conduct groups in English for stress and acculturation management for study abroad students and international residents.

I also organize and present workshops in “Stereotypes and Living in Italy” and “Focusing on Feeling Good: Utilizing Hypnosis”.

My major areas of experience and research are in anxiety, panic attacks, depression, eating disorders, and addictions with the theories of cognitive, behavioral therapy. I also work with cross-cultural couples and families using a systemic approach so that the problem is not delegated to one member of the couple or family but seen as a dysfunctional dynamic developed within the couple or family system.

I have also integrated the use of hypnosis in my work after receiving a diploma from the Italian School of Ericksonian Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (Rome) following a four year graduate program in psychotherapy. Ericksonian hypnosis from Milton Erickson’s innovative work in hypnosis, promoting the “New Hypnosis” as a natural condition and unique tool for us to discover and use our own inner resources for finding new solutions to some problems.

Regarding fees, I try to work out a personal payment plan according to the individual needs.

I am a provider for the global insurances GeoBlue, HTH, CISI, and AXA. If you have one of these then there is no upfront payment. If you have another international insurance program, after payment you can file for a reimbursement that depends on the insurance coverage for psychotherapy.

I also offer student discounts and special fees for long term therapy.

Please email (msmaryasan24@gmail.com) for any questions or if you would like further information. I can also interview people using Skype if you are away from Italy and planning to live or study here. Sometimes it is also necessary to continue sessions with Skype if the person travels for business or returns home after a period of time living in Italy. In these cases I do “Reverse Culture Shock” training.”
