ANDALUSIA (Spain)

Andalusia is the second largest autonomous region, located in southern Spain and divided into eight provinces: Almeria, Granada, Málaga, Cádiz, Huelva, Seville, Córdoba and Jaén, being the city of Seville the capital. Andalusia is officially recognised as a historical nation, and its name is derived from the Arabic denomination Al-Andalus, which was the medieval Muslim territory in the Iberian Peninsula.

This partly explains Andalusia’s huge artistic legacy: the Alhambra Palace, Alcázar Castle of Seville or even Cordoba’s Mosque Cathedral are great examples of it. This is why, more than bullfighting and flamenco – commonly used to describe this region, Andalusia offers incredible cultural heritage, still unknown to some. As a region of contrasts, Andalusia encompasses in 33,694 sq miles a world of deserts, beautiful mountain chains, incredible beaches, ancient cities, and lovely white villages.
